The majority of our jewellery and bags, as well as all the hammocks, were bought in this way, directly
from the people that actually made them. A small amount was found on the stalls or in the shops of more experienced traders
but this is all still handmade, and usually by the shopkeeper and their family.
Once back in the UK in 2004 we began selling our products at music festivals and other large outdoor events.
The website and wholesale business was launched in early 2005, and we opened a shop in Worcester in February 2006.
Also in Spring 2006, we were awarded a Highly Commended in the Most Promising New Business category
of the Hereford & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards. We were thrilled with this and proudly display the certificate in
the shop.
Fatlip became a Limited Company early in 2007 as the business continued to go from strength to strength. We
now exhibit at major gift trade shows in the UK, such as the Spring Fair and Harrogate Home & Gift, and continue
to expand our marketing programme with advertising and PR in the major trade publications.
We enjoy good business relationships with all our suppliers and have enabled some of them to really
grow their business and income. We firmly believe that we contribute directly to the welfare of these families in a very
positive way and always look forward to returning and seeing our new friends again.
