Also known as Shiva's Eye or Pacific Cat's Eye (a name derived from the
colouring on the reverse of the shell), the Swirl Shell is the protective covering at the opening of the Turban snail shell.
As the snail approaches the end of its life, this protective door comes away and sinks to the seabed.
The shape of the swirl is unique from one shell to the next.
The colour varies from beige through purple to deep green, depending on the sea snail's diet, while the background always
remains a milky white.
The swirl is a symbol also seen in the Japanese healing
arts. In a form of Reiki it symbolises an energy force of power and strength.
The Eye of Shiva is the third eye in the middle of the forehead
of the Hindu God Shiva. Representing wisdom it is thought to have the ability to look beyond the obvious. It symbolises the
creation, preservation and destruction of everything; the flow of life, the constant change of the universe, spiritual knowledge
and creative visualisation.

The pedant measures approx 1" / 2.4cm from top to bottom. It comes on either an approx 40cm silver chain or an approx

The pendants are individually handmade from natural materials and sizes, shape and colours do vary.
